Take on one of the world's most iconic trekking challenges while helping others achieve the extraordinary.

In November 2027, the Openwork Foundation will be taking a team to Everest Base Camp as part of a unique expedition alongside a group of visually impaired trekkers. Register your interest and we will send details of our information webinar on 8th September at 1pm for potential participants.

A unique expedition

This is more than a personal challenge. The aim is for the whole team to reach Everest Base Camp together, supporting one another every step of the way. Along the journey, you'll experience the breathtaking landscapes of the Himalayas, immerse yourself in Nepalese culture, and help visually impaired participants fulfil a life-changing ambition.

Why join this trip?

Unlike many Everest Base Camp treks, which often suffer from a high dropout rate, as teams climb too far too fast, this expedition prioritises teamwork over speed. Supporting someone who is blind means every member of the team needs to allow for proper acclimatisation, with planned rest days and a strong emphasis on mutual support. The result is an inclusive and rewarding experience that creates lasting friendships and gives everyone the best possible chance of reaching Base Camp successfully.

Costs

The total cost is £6,500, which includes all flights, accommodation, meals, equipment and a £1,500 fundraising commitment to support the work of the Openwork Foundation.

The group will be limited to approximately 15 participants.

What's included?

International flights from the UK to Kathmandu
Internal flights between Kathmandu and Lukla
21-day trip including travel
15 days trekking, including acclimatisation walks en-route
A guided tour of Kathmandu
Visit to the famous Tengboche monastery
Accommodation, meals, equipment and in-country transport

Not included: vaccinations, tips, medical insurance, training weekend cost.
